Take Me Out to the Ballgame

So Abby and Isaac had their first Baseball game on Saturday - different games, but at the same time. Isn't that so convenient? At least they were playing at the same park, so it wasn't too bad. Basically Cameron and Danielle ended up watching Isaac's game and Juliana and I watched Abby's. OK, really just me, Juliana was either eating or sleeping the whole time.

Who knew how much work it is to be a mom of an athlete? I don't know how those of you who did this (do this) with teenagers survived! I only have 2 kids playing, their practices are at the same time in basically the same location and same with their games. I guess it's just the amount of time that it takes. 1 1/2-2 hour practices 2xs a week and 2 games a week at 1 hour each. Abby is good about going to practice on her own - they just practice at the big field next to our apartment complex. We drop her off on the way to Isaac's practice (just on the other side of the HUGE field) and then she comes home on her own around 6pm. Isaac has to have me at practice, within sight the whole time. (Have I mentioned that he's having some separation anxieties lately?) He'd like me to be out on the field with him, but that's not going to happen since I have Danielle and Juliana with me.

Anyway, here are some pictures of game day.

Here is Isaac's team before the game. He's in the middle of the second row.

Here's Isaac in his Dodger's uniform. Ain't he cute?

Here he is playing catcher. In T-ball you might not think this was a very exciting position, but it suits Isaac well as he likes to squat down and rest. And some of the players are pitched to by the coach, so he does get to do some work.

Here's Abby in her Tiger's uniform. Her hat is missing because they are getting them personalized, so they collect the ones that aren't done yet after each game.

And here's a video of Abby up to bat for the first time. Keep in mind this is only her 4th time ever playing baseball (she had 3 practices before this game). I think she does pretty well. Though I do need to explain one point - when a team gets 5 runs in they call that half of the inning over. This is so that if one team is way better than the other the underdog doesn't get creamed and get less batting time, etc.. because of it. So once Abby makes it to 2nd base you'll see they call everybody in to switch - that's because the runner in front of her was the 5th run in for their team.

This has taken me 2 days to get up, so I'm going to post now. I hope that the video turns out better than the last one.

LOVED the video. She looked so little out there on 2nd base.
